Meryl is a full-time Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor at Flourish Wellness, where she dedicates herself to helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges and achieve lasting recovery. Meryl also serves as a supervisor at a community mental health facility, where she oversees a team of clinicians. In this role, she provides clinical supervision and guidance, helping therapists develop their skills in treating a wide range of mental health issues. Meryl's experience in balancing her own client work with the responsibility of supervising others deepened her understanding of the complexities of mental health care and reinforced her commitment to fostering growth and excellence within her practice.
With a focus on treating borderline personality disorder (BPD) and eating disorders, Meryl employs a range of clinical treatments designed to meet the unique needs of each client. For those diagnosed with BPD, she primarily utilities and teaches essential life skills such as emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness techniques, and improving interpersonal relationships. Meryl believes a structured approach helps her clients manage the emotional intensity often associated with BPD while empowering them to build healthier coping strategies.
When working with clients struggling with eating disorders, Meryl relies on evidence-based practices to address distorted thinking around food and body image. She helps clients reframe negative thought patterns and develop healthier behaviors. She focuses on helping clients accept difficult emotions and thoughts rather than avoiding them, fostering psychological flexibility. By integrating these approaches, Meryl supports her clients in not only changing their behaviors but also learning to live more fully in alignment with their values, even in the face of challenging emotions.
Meryl’s therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that recovery is not a linear process. She emphasizes the importance of building meaningful relationships with her clients, creating a compassionate and supportive environment where they feel safe in their healing journey. By blending structured therapeutic techniques with empathy and connection, Meryl helps her clients navigate the inevitable ups and downs of recovery, instilling hope and resilience along the way.
